Wear resistance test of aluminum and aluminum alloy anodized films-Physical Performance Testing-

Test Background

Aluminum and aluminum alloy anodized films and organic polymer films are mainly used for the protection and decoration of aluminum and aluminum alloy surfaces, and are widely used in many fields such as transportation, construction, furniture, home appliances, decoration, food packaging, mechanical parts and functional materials.
The wear resistance test of anodized films of aluminum and aluminum alloys can use the spray grinding method, falling sand method, paper wheel grinding method, rubber wheel grinding method, rubber friction method and friction coefficient determination method to determine the wear resistance of anodic oxide films, anodized composite films, organic polymer films, aluminum flooring and aluminum foil and other products.

Test method

1. Spray grinding method: Under specified conditions, dry silicon carbide particles are sprayed on the inspection area of the sample until the metal matrix is exposed. Use the wear time and sand consumption quality to evaluate the wear resistance of the film layer.
2. Falling sand method: Use dry silicon carbide or standard sand abrasives to freely fall at a specified height to scour the surface of the sample until it wears through the film layer. Use the mass or volume of the abrasive used to evaluate the wear resistance of the film layer.
3. Paper belt wheel grinding method: Use a grinding wheel wrapped with silicon carbide paper belt to reciprocately grind the sample. Each time a double stroke is completed, the grinding wheel rotates at a small angle to make the unused paper belt contact the test area. The wear resistance or wear resistance coefficient of the sample is evaluated based on the reduction in film thickness or mass. The obtained results can be compared with the test results of the standard sample or reference sample, or can be worn layer by layer to establish the relationship between the film thickness loss and the number of double strokes.
4. Rubber wheel grinding method: Add a weight of specified mass to the rubber grinding wheel and rub the surface of the sample with the rubber grinding wheel. After the test has passed the specified number of revolutions, the wear resistance of the film layer is evaluated by the mass loss of the film layer or whether it leaks out of the matrix.
5. Eraser rubbing method: After wiping with an eraser along the test area with specified load, stroke and number of reciprocations, the wear resistance of the film layer is evaluated based on the exposure of the substrate.
6. Friction coefficient measurement method: Pull the slider with a certain load horizontally on the surface of the sample, and use a dynamometer to measure the friction force in the horizontal direction. Find the coefficient of friction from the ratio of friction force to load.
