Test Background
Direct sunlight (ultraviolet erosion), air humidity and other factors will cause the paint film to age and decompose, causing the furniture to turn yellow. The yellowing resistance of the furniture surface is one of the most important indicators of the physical and chemical properties of the furniture surface. Unsatisfactory yellowing resistance of the furniture surface will seriously affect the appearance of the furniture. The wooden furniture surface yellowing resistance test can determine the surface yellowing resistance of wooden furniture whose surface is completely dry and cured.

Scope of tests
1. Pure solid wood furniture: Pure solid wood furniture refers to 100% pure solid wood.
2. Solid wood furniture: Solid wood furniture refers to furniture in which all wooden parts (except mirror brackets and tooth bars) are made of solid sawn wood or solid wood panels, and the solid wood content is between 80% and 95%.
3. Board and wood combined furniture: Board and wood combined furniture actually means that the solid wood content may only be between 60% and 80%.
Test method
Put the wooden furniture sample into a xenon arc lamp to simulate the use environment of the furniture, and expose it together with the blue wool standard sample under the xenon arc lamp. Compare the discoloration of exposed and unexposed samples to evaluate the yellowing resistance of the paint film on the surface of the sample.
1) Exposure test
According to the time required for blue wool level 6 to reach gray level 4, it is used as the exposure time of the sample in the xenon arc lamp. Place the sample and the blue wool standard sample into a xenon arc lamp for exposure testing. Stop the test when the exposure time is reached. The distance between the xenon arc lamp and the surface of the blue wool standard sample should be consistent. Black standard temperature: (65±3)℃, relative humidity (50±5)%.
2) Rating
After the test, take out the sample and the blue wool standard sample together, remove the cover, and use the gray sample card or blue wool to evaluate the corresponding discoloration grade of the sample in the rating light box. With normal vision (or corrected to normal vision), observe the change in color of the surface of the specimen at any angle from a distance of about 50 cm.
In order to avoid erroneous evaluation of light fastness due to photochromic properties, the test piece should be placed in a dark place and allowed to equilibrate at room temperature for 24 hours before evaluating the light fastness. Three testers should evaluate each sample respectively, and the consistent evaluation results of at least two people should be used as the evaluation grade.
