Test Background
The adhesion resistance test of the paint film on the furniture surface uses a right-angle grid pattern to cut the paint film and penetrate it into the base material to evaluate the detachment resistance of the paint film from the base material. The adhesion resistance test of paint films on furniture surfaces is applicable to paint films on hard substrates (steel) and soft substrates (wood and plastic). It is not applicable to paint films with a total thickness exceeding 250 μm, nor to uneven paint films.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability to test the reliability of various furniture surface paint films, and provides professional reliability testing services such as adhesion resistance testing for furniture surface paint film products.
Scope of tests
The cured surface of all painted furniture, not suitable for leather furniture and textile furniture surfaces.
Test method
1. Cut the paint film
manually
Hold the cutting knife perpendicular to the specimen surface. Apply uniform force to the tool and use appropriate spacing guides to produce the specified number of cuts on the paint film at a uniform cutting rate. All cuts should be made through the surface of the substrate.
If the paint film is too hard to cut through to the substrate, the surface test is invalid and should be recorded truthfully. Repeat the above operation, and then make the same number of parallel cutting lines, intersecting the original cutting lines at an angle of 90° to form a grid pattern.
2. Use an electric driven tool to cut the paint film
If the cutting tool is electrically driven, the points specified in the manual operating procedures must be observed, especially the number of cuts, intervals and number of tests.
Rating
Level 0: The cutting edge is completely smooth and no frame is peeled off
Level 1: There is a little paint film peeling off at the cutting intersection. The cross-cutting area cannot be affected by more than 5%
Level 2: The paint film peels off at the cutting edges and/or intersections. The affected cutting area is greater than 5% but less than 15%
Level 3: The paint film falls off partially or completely in large fragments along the cutting edge. and/or partially or completely detached in different parts of the grid. The affected cutting area is greater than 15% and less than 35%
Level 4: The paint film peels off in large pieces along the cut edge and/or partially or completely on some grids. The affected cutting area is greater than 35% and less than 65%
Level 5: Any degree of shedding above Level 5
