Fiber gamma irradiation test-Physical Performance Testing-

Test Background

Its application performance will decrease significantly after high-energy ray irradiation, so it is necessary to conduct in-depth research on the performance changes of ytterbium-doped optical fiber materials in an irradiation environment. The purpose of the gamma irradiation test for optical fiber products is to determine the radiation-induced attenuation value of cabled or uncabled Class A1, Class A2 multi-mode optical fiber and Class B single-mode optical fiber due to exposure to gamma irradiation.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has environmental testing capabilities for various optical fibers and provides professional gamma irradiation testing services for optical fiber products.

Scope of tests

Cabled or uncabled Class A1, Class A2 multimode fiber and Class B single mode fiber

Type of test

The types of radiation tests are distinguished based on radiation dose, dose rate, irradiation time and temperature, and are divided into environmental background radiation tests and harmful nuclear radiation tests.
1. Attenuation measurement under environmental background irradiation: Measure the attenuation of the sample at the specified wavelength according to method A (cutoff method), and record the attenuation value A before the sample is exposed to the gamma radiation source. The initial attenuation measurement ambient temperature should be the same as the temperature measured during the irradiation test.
2. Attenuation measurement in hazardous nuclear environment: Record the output power before exposure to gamma irradiation source. The harmful nuclear radiation effects of exposure to gamma irradiation will be determined by subjecting the specimen to a nominal dose rate of 1000 Gy/h and a total dose of 1000 Gy.
To simulate specially specified conditions, other dose and dose rate combinations of hazardous nuclear environmental irradiation may be required in product specifications.
