Optical fiber immersion test

If it is immersed in distilled water or softened water for a long time, the optical fiber surface will gradually undergo a hydrolysis reaction after adsorption, and the silicon-oxygen bond will break, causing the optical fiber to break. Once water enters the optical fiber splices, joint box seals, and exposed bare wires, the life of the optical fiber will be sharply reduced or even directly broken.
The purpose of the optical fiber product water immersion test is to determine the adaptability of Class A1 multimode optical fiber and Class B single-mode optical fiber to immersion in distilled water or softened water environmental conditions that may occur during actual application, storage and/or transportation.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has environmental testing capabilities for various optical fibers and provides professional water immersion testing services for optical fiber products.

Class A1 multi-mode optical fiber, Class B single-mode optical fiber and other optical fiber products.

1. Test conditions: According to the prescribed test procedures, place the sample into a water tank filled with water, but do not apply water pressure. The temperature of the water is maintained at 23℃±5℃ and left for 30 days to monitor the changes in attenuation and coating peeling force.
2. Measurement: transmission characteristics measurement, mechanical performance measurement
3. Pretreatment If required, the sample should be pretreated in accordance with detailed specifications.
4. Recovery If there are no special requirements, the sample should be recovered under standard atmospheric conditions for more than 12 hours, but not more than 48 hours.
The detailed specification may require that measurements be taken during the restoration phase. If so, the detailed specification should specify when and what aspects of the measurements should be taken.
