Crack resistance test of coated fabrics

Crack resistance test of coated fabrics-Physical Performance Testing-

Test Background

The anti-crack resistance of coated fabrics refers to the ability of coated fabrics to resist cracking by external heavy objects. The coating resistance test is applicable to coated fabrics coated with rubber or plastic on one or both sides.
Zhongke Testing Environmental Reliability Experiment Center has the capabilities of environmental testing and reliability performance testing of various rubber or plastic coated fabric materials and products, and provides professional anti-crack testing services for coated fabrics.

Test Principle

The specimen is subjected to a controlled load on a known area until the fabric ruptures.

Test method

1. Place the base plate on the platform of the testing machine, and then place the sample on the base plate. If the thickness of the coating layer on both sides of the sample to be tested is different, the thicker side of the coating layer should be placed facing up.
2. Place the round mouth load of the testing machine accurately on the sample, so that the mouth of the round mouth load contacts the sample and is perpendicular to the plane of the sample. The circumference of the round mouth load shall be at least 12 mm from any edge of the specimen. Then apply pressure to the circular port at a speed of 0.08 mm/s until it reaches the shear yield point or the maximum displacement value of the dial pointer, whichever is smaller.
Record the pressure (N) during fracturing of the sample, change the position of the sample, and repeat the test twice more at a distance of at least 12 mm from the edge of the tested area and 12 mm from the edge of the sample.
3. Tensile specimens can easily observe the fracturing of the specimen. The tensile strength of the ruptured fabric is much smaller than that of the unruptured one.

Test standard:

GB/T 12587-2003 Rubber or plastic coated fabrics - Determination of resistance to fracturing
HG/T 2867-1997 Rubber or plastic coated fabrics Standard environment for conditioning and testing
HG/T 3050.3 Rubber or plastic coated fabrics - Determination of characteristics of whole rolls - Part 3: Method for determination of thickness
