Wear resistance test of coated fabric

Wear resistance test of coated fabric-Physical Performance Testing-

Test Background

The abrasion resistance of coated fabrics, that is, the fabric's resistance to wear and tear due to friction with another object, is an important quality indicator that reflects the durability of clothing. The coated fabric abrasion resistance test refers to the ability of the coated fabric to resist wear and tear under repeated mechanical friction.
Zhongke Testing Environmental Reliability Experiment Center has the capabilities of environmental testing and reliability performance testing of various rubber or plastic coated fabric materials and products, and provides professional wear resistance testing services for coated fabrics.

Test method

1. Taber method: A method of measuring the abrasion resistance of coated fabrics using a Taber abrasion machine.
2. Martindale method: two independent methods for determining the wet and dry abrasion resistance of materials.
In Method 1, the specimen is clamped in a specimen holder and rubbed at constant pressure using the selected abrasive. A derivative of this method is the use of wet abrasives.
Method 2 is to reverse the positions of the abrasive and the sample. In both cases, the relative motion between the abrasive and the specimen forms a complex cyclic pattern that generates friction in all directions (Lissajous diagram).
The test is stopped when a predetermined number of cycles is reached (the extent of damage to the specimen is assessed) or when the specimen reaches a predetermined degree of wear (the number of cycles is recorded).
