Test Background
Porous and honeycomb metals have excellent properties due to their unique cell-like pore structure. When porous and honeycomb metals are used as impact-absorbing components in automobiles, their high-speed compression properties are necessary for industrial design. The high-speed compression deformation of porous and honeycomb metal materials is significantly different from their static compression characteristics.
The high-speed compression test of metal materials can determine the high-speed compression performance of porous and honeycomb metals at room temperature. Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability to test the reliability performance of various metal materials and provides professional high-speed compression testing services for metal materials.
Scope of tests
is suitable for porous and honeycomb metals with 50% or higher porosity.
Test method
1. Apply impact force to porous and honeycomb metal materials at a speed of 0.1 m/s~100 m/s, and measure the compression force and displacement to evaluate the high-speed compression deformation characteristics of the sample, such as platform stress and energy absorption. Test methods for applying high-speed compressive force to porous and honeycomb metals include drop weight impact test and servo-type high-speed compression test.
2. The drop weight impact test applies compressive force by dropping the weight from a specified height. The test speed is controlled by the drop height. It should be noted that the falling weight will decelerate during compression deformation. When the drop height required for the specified test speed cannot be achieved, an initial speed can be applied to the falling weight.
3. Servo-type high-speed compression test uses hydraulic or electric high-speed servo equipment to apply compression force and control the speed of the testing machine. The driving device should be able to track the test speed.
