Test Background

The bending performance test of sandwich structural materials can determine the apparent bending strength and apparent bending modulus when the sandwich structure is subjected to bending, the bending stiffness and shear stiffness of the sandwich structure, the stress and elastic modulus of the sandwich structure panels, the shear stress and shear modulus of the sandwich structure core, and is also suitable for measuring the bending adhesive layer strength between the sandwich structure panels and the core.

Scope of tests

Sandwich materials include lightweight wood, foam plastic, etc. Metal materials or composite materials can also be used to make corrugated board sandwich or honeycomb sandwich (see honeycomb structure).

Test method

The tensile and compressive strength of the panel is measured through three-point bending of the long beam specimen of the sandwich structure. The shear strength of the core is measured by the three-point bending of the short beam specimen of the sandwich structure. The bending stiffness and shear stiffness are measured by the three-point bending of the outstretched beam of the long beam specimen of the sandwich structure, thereby measuring the elastic modulus of the panel and the shear modulus of the core.
