Longitudinal and transverse shear test of polymer matrix composites

Longitudinal and transverse shear test of polymer matrix composites-Mechanical Testing-

Test Background

The longitudinal and transverse shear test of polymer matrix composites can determine the longitudinal and transverse shear properties of continuous fiber (unidirectional tape or fabric) reinforced polymer matrix composite laminates. The applicable composite material form is limited to continuous fiber laminates with a tensile load direction of ±45°.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the reliability testing capabilities for various polymer matrix composite materials and provides professional longitudinal and transverse shear testing services for polymer matrix composite materials.

Scope of tests

The main types of polymer composite materials include: glass fiber reinforced resin matrix composite materials, natural fiber reinforced resin matrix composite materials, carbon fiber reinforced resin matrix composite materials, aramid fiber reinforced resin matrix composite materials, metal fiber reinforced resin matrix composite materials, special fiber reinforced polymer matrix composite materials, ceramic particle resin matrix composite materials, thermoplastic resin matrix composite materials, thermosetting resin matrix composite materials, polymer matrix nanocomposites, etc.

Test method

1. High temperature test environmental conditions
First, preheat the environmental chamber and test fixture to the specified test temperature, then heat the sample to the specified test temperature, and verify it with a temperature sensor that is in direct contact with the test section of the sample. For dry samples, after the sample reaches the test temperature, the test is started by holding for 5 to 10 minutes; for wet samples, after the sample reaches the test temperature, the test is started by holding for 2 to 3 minutes. During the test, the sample temperature is maintained within ±3°C of the specified test temperature.
2. Low temperature (below zero) test environmental conditions
First, cool the environmental chamber and test fixture to the specified test temperature, then cool the sample to the specified test temperature, and verify it with a temperature sensor that is in direct contact with the test section of the sample. For dry specimens, after the specimen reaches the test temperature, the test is started after the specimen is kept for 5 to 10 minutes. During the test, the sample temperature is maintained within ±3°C of the specified test temperature.
