Test Background
Due to differences in load-bearing capacity and functionality, the front windshields of most domestic models use laminated area tempered glass. When the tempered glass is broken, it will split into passivated particles. Since there is no interlayer, they will be scattered into the car and will not easily harm the people in the car. Therefore, tempered glass is generally used as the windshield for side windows and sunroofs. The quality of automotive safety glass determines its ability to resist shattering and the degree of damage to people after it is broken.
Zhongke Inspection Reliability Experiment Center has the capability to test the reliability performance of various automotive components, and provides professional mechanical property testing services such as impact resistance testing, penetration resistance testing, and abrasion resistance testing for automotive safety glass.
Scope of tests
There are three main types of common automotive glass on the market: tempered glass, laminated tempered glass and laminated area tempered glass.
Test method
1. Impact resistance test (227g steel ball test): Determine whether the safety glass maintains a certain minimum strength or bonding strength under the impact of a small steel body.
2. Penetration resistance test (2260g steel ball test): Evaluate the penetration resistance of safety glass.
3. Wear resistance test: Determine whether safety glass has a certain minimum wear resistance.
4. Fragmentation state test: Evaluate the possibility of injury caused by fragments when safety glass breaks.
5. Human head simulation test: evaluate whether safety glass has the lowest strength or bonding strength under blunt object impact. If necessary, the test may be carried out on the windshield glass product.
