Test Background
Often, impacts can adversely affect the structural and functional integrity of the entire equipment. The extent of adverse effects generally varies with the magnitude and duration of the shock. When the impact duration is consistent with the reciprocal of the equipment's natural frequency or the main frequency component of the input impact environment waveform is consistent with the equipment's natural frequency, it will increase the adverse impact on the structural and functional integrity of the equipment. For example, equipment failure caused by the increase or decrease of friction between parts, or mutual interference; changes in equipment insulation strength, decrease in insulation impedance, changes in magnetic field and electrostatic field strength, etc.
Military equipment impact testing can evaluate the ability of the equipment's structure and function to withstand non-repetitive impacts that do not commonly occur in loading, unloading, transportation and use environments; determine the vulnerability of equipment for use in packaging design to protect the integrity of the equipment's structure and function; test the strength of equipment fixtures when the equipment is installed on platforms where collisions are likely to occur.

Scope of tests
Suitable for evaluating the structural and functional characteristics of equipment under mechanical impact environments that may be experienced during its lifetime. The frequency range of mechanical shock environment generally does not exceed 10000Hz, and the duration does not exceed 1.0s. Under the influence of most mechanical shock environments, the main response frequency of the equipment does not exceed 2000Hz, and the response duration does not exceed 0.1s.
Test method
1. Functional impact test: Conduct impact test on equipment in working condition (including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and electronic) to evaluate the structural integrity and functional consistency of the equipment under impact.
2. Packaging impact test: used for equipment that requires container transportation. It stipulates the minimum critical impact resistance as the loading and unloading drop height, providing a design basis for packaging designers.
3. Vulnerability test is used to determine the vulnerability level of equipment and provide a basis for equipment packaging design or redesign of equipment to meet transportation or handling requirements.
4. Transportation drop test is used to determine whether the equipment can withstand the impact caused by normal loading and unloading. These equipment are usually moved in or out of transport boxes or combination boxes, or are used in the field (transported to the battlefield by manpower, trucks, trains, etc.).
5. Crash safety test For equipment installed on air and ground vehicles, the equipment may detach from the installation fixture, tie-down device or box structure in a crash, endangering personnel safety.
