Wood Impact Resistance Indentation Testing-Mechanical Testing-

Test Background

Wood impact indentation test can determine the impact indentation resistance of wood. Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability of reliability testing of various types of wood, and provides professional reliability testing services such as impact resistance and indentation testing for wood products.

Scope of tests

1. Wood is divided into two categories: coniferous trees and broadleaf trees according to tree species
2. Timber is divided into original strips, logs, boards and sleepers according to processing methods.

Test method

A steel ball is used to impact the wood surface to produce indentations, and the impact resistance of the wood surface is judged by detecting the indentations.
1. Clamp the sample covered with carbon paper on the pallet of the testing machine with a clamp, and let the steel ball fall freely from a height of 500 mm (measured from the lowest point of the steel ball to the surface of the specimen) to impact the specimen. Conduct impact tests on the wood radial section and chordal section respectively (the radial section and the chordal section use dislocation impact, and the center distance between adjacent indentations on the radial and chordal surfaces is not less than 10 mm).
Each surface is impacted three times, and the center distance of the impact indentation is 40 mm. 6.2 After the impact of the steel ball is completed, measure the diameter of the indentation printed on the wood sample by the copy paper in the along-grain and transverse-grain directions, accurate to 0.01 mm.
2. Cut out a 20 mm long piece with impact indentation from each wood sample after measuring the indentation diameter, and measure the moisture content according to regulations.
