Test Background
The purpose of density determination, water absorption test and shrinkage test of cable insulation materials is to determine the density, water absorption performance and shrinkage performance of insulation and sheath materials of power distribution and communication cables and optical cables, wires and flexible wires.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has environmental testing capabilities for various cables and optical cables, and provides professional density measurement, water absorption testing and shrinkage testing services for cable and optical cable insulation and sheathing materials.
Scope of tests
The most common types of insulation and sheathing materials for power distribution and communication cables and optical cables, wires and cords, including polymer insulation and sheathing materials for ship and offshore cables and optical cables, as well as insulation and sheathing materials for elastomers, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polypropylene, etc.
Test method
Density determination: suspension method (general method), pycnometer method (benchmark method), apparent mass method (immersion method)
Water absorption test: electrical test method, weight water absorption test
Shrinkage test: insulation shrinkage test, PE sheath shrinkage test
