Test Background
When plastics are used indoors and outdoors, they are often exposed to solar radiation or solar radiation behind glass for a long time. Therefore, it is very important to determine the effects of solar radiation, heat, humidity and other climatic factors on the color and other properties of plastics. In order to more quickly determine the effects of radiation, heat, and humidity on the physical, chemical, and optical properties of plastics, artificially accelerated climate aging or artificially accelerated radiation exposure tests with specific laboratory light sources are often used.
Exposure in laboratory equipment has more controlled conditions than in the natural environment, serving to accelerate possible polymer degradation and product failure. Plastic laboratory light source exposure tests measure changes in plastic properties after exposure.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the ability to test the reliability performance of various plastics, and provides professional laboratory light source exposure testing and other testing services for plastics.
Scope of tests
According to the different usage characteristics of various plastics, plastics are usually divided into three types: general plastics, engineering plastics and special plastics.
General plastics: polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polystyrene (PS) and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer (ABS).
Engineering plastics: polyamide, polyformaldehyde, polycarbonate, modified polyphenylene ether, thermoplastic polyester, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, methylpentene polymer, vinyl alcohol copolymer, etc.
Special plastics: base-reinforced plastics (such as rag-reinforced or asbestos-reinforced plastics), inorganic mineral-filled plastics (such as quartz or mica-filled plastics), fiber-reinforced plastics (such as carbon fiber-reinforced plastics), etc.
Test method
samples were subjected to laboratory light source exposure testing under controlled environmental conditions.
The methods described include requirements that meet the requirements for measuring sample surface irradiance and irradiance, specifying white and black panel temperatures, room air temperature, and relative humidity.
