Test Background

Plating refers to a layer of plastic, or a thin layer of metal, or an imitation of a certain precious metal that is coated on the surface of certain metal items. In order to make the item look good or easy to store, a thin layer of this precious metal is plated on the surface of ordinary metal.
The preparation of composite coating is a process in which one or several insoluble solid particles are added to the plating solution to co-deposit the solid particles with metal ions. It is actually a metal matrix composite material.
The sulfur dioxide test for metal coatings on light industrial products can use sulfur dioxide gas to quickly determine the corrosion resistance of protective decorative coatings.

Scope of tests

Electroplating, metal coating, wear-resistant and anti-friction composite coating, high temperature resistant composite coating, stainless steel coating, decorative protective composite coating, electronic composite coating, such as copper-tin-chromium, copper-nickel-chromium, nickel-chromium and other coatings.

Test method

1. Under conditions of high temperature and high humidity, low-concentration sulfur dioxide gas can form insoluble alkali sulfates with commonly used coatings. The final corrosion products are consistent with the final products of atmospheric corrosion. Therefore, the sulfur dioxide gas test can be used as an artificially simulated industrial atmospheric accelerated corrosion test.
2. The test cycles can be 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24, 28, 32, and 48 hours respectively according to product requirements.
