Test Background
Fracture toughness is a constant measure of a material's ability to resist crack propagation. The thermal cycle test of fine ceramics can measure the fracture toughness of fine ceramic materials using the pre-cracked beam method at room temperature, and can be used for material research, quality supervision, performance evaluation, material reliability and fatigue parameter design, etc.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has mechanical testing capabilities for various fine ceramics and provides professional thermal cycle mechanical testing services for fine ceramics.
Scope of tests
is suitable for homogeneous bulk ceramics and ceramic composites, but not for ceramic composites containing continuous fiber reinforcement.
Test method
1. At room temperature, use the three-point or four-point bending method to measure the critical load when a single-sided pre-cracked beam sample breaks. Based on the pre-crack length, sample size and the span between the two supporting points of the sample, the fracture toughness of the tested sample can be calculated.
2. The through cracks in the specimen are prefabricated by Vickers indentation or notched specimens (including through-notched and oblique-notched specimens).
