Test Background
The corrosion of protected and unprotected metal materials is affected by many environmental factors, which mainly depends on the type of metal material and the type of environment. It is impossible to design a laboratory accelerated corrosion test that includes all environmental factors that affect corrosion resistance. Therefore, laboratory tests are designed to simulate the factors that play a major role in the corrosion of metallic materials.
Cyclic accelerated corrosion testing of metals and alloys determines the corrosion resistance of specimens by cyclically exposing them to salt spray, "dry" and "high humidity" environments.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the ability to test the corrosion resistance of various metals and alloys, and provides professional cyclic accelerated corrosion testing services for metals and alloys.
Scope of tests
1) Metals and their alloys;
2) Metal covering layer (anodic and cathodic);
3) Conversion overlay;
4) Organic covering layer on metal materials;
5) Anodic oxide covering layer.
Test method
1. The test can only be started after the sample has been placed in the exposure box as planned and the salt spray collection rate and conditions are confirmed to be within the specified range. The rate of salt spray deposition after 24 hours of continuous spraying should be 1 mL/h~2 mL/h per 80 cm2 of horizontal collection area. The concentration of the collected sodium chloride solution should be 50 g/L ± 5 g/L, and the pH value should be in the range of 6.5~7.2.
2. During the entire test period, the test shall not be interrupted. Only when it is necessary to inspect the sample, the operation can be interrupted to take out the sample, and the interruption time should be kept to a minimum.
3. The test period should be determined according to the relevant standards of the material or product being tested. When there is no standard, it can be determined through consultation between relevant parties. The recommended test periods are 30 cycles (240 h), 45 cycles (360 h), 60 cycles (480 h), 90 cycles (720 h), and 180 cycles (1 440 h).
4. After the salt spray test is completed, take the tested sample out of the salt spray box. In order to reduce the shedding of corrosion products, the sample should be naturally dried in indoor air for 0.5 h to 1 h before cleaning. Then carefully clean the test sample with clean flowing water with a temperature not higher than 40°C to remove the salt spray solution remaining on the surface of the sample, and then blow dry with air at a pressure not exceeding 200 kPa at a distance of about 300 mm from the sample.
