Test Background
UV Aging Testing of Paints and Varnishes A test method for determining the resistance of coatings to the effects of artificial weathering using test equipment containing fluorescent UV lamps and condensation or water spray. Compared with sunlight, this test lacks the energy of visible and infrared radiation, so the temperature at which the test panel is heated is no higher than the temperature of the surrounding air during actual use.

Scope of tests
Color paint is divided into primer and topcoat: primer is divided into primer, putty, mid-coat, sealer, anti-rust paint, etc.; topcoat is divided into enamel paint, special topcoat, etc.
The paint and film of varnish are transparent and are divided into ester varnish, shellac varnish, phenolic varnish, alkyd varnish, acrylic varnish, polyester varnish, high-performance varnish, fluorocarbon varnish, etc.
Test method
1. Use fluorescent ultraviolet lamps and condensation or water spray to perform artificial weathering on the coating. The purpose is to produce an agreed-upon radiation exposure energy or an agreed-upon exposure time limit by the equipment, so that one or more properties of the coating can reach a given degree of change.
2. Generally, the performance of the exposed coating is compared with the performance of its unexposed coating (reference sample), or with the performance of a coating whose aging properties are known (reference sample) that is exposed at the same time. These properties are evaluated using criteria agreed in advance between the parties involved.
