Test Background

The hot air accelerated aging test of vulcanized rubber or thermoplastic rubber is a method for evaluating the relative heat resistance of rubber. In order to evaluate the long-term relative heat resistance of rubber, after aging the rubber for a certain period of time under specified conditions, the properties of the rubber are tested and compared with the original properties of the rubber.
In the hot air accelerated aging test, the rubber is exposed to the test environment for a short period of time in order to produce a natural aging effect. In heat aging tests, rubber is exposed to the same temperatures over a long period of time as it was used.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability to test the reliability performance of various vulcanized rubbers or thermoplastic rubbers, and provides professional hot air accelerated aging test services for vulcanized rubbers or thermoplastic rubbers.

Scope of tests

Vulcanized rubber: flat vulcanizing machine vulcanizing type, vulcanizing tank vulcanizing type, continuous vulcanizing type, special vulcanizing type, etc.
Thermoplastic rubber: polystyrene, polyurethane, polyolefin, polyester, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, ethylene-acrylate copolymer, polyethylene-butyl rubber joint copolymer, etc.

Test method

The properties of the specimens are measured after aging in air at high temperature and atmospheric pressure and compared with the properties of unaged specimens. The degree of rubber aging should be determined using physical properties relevant to the actual application, but in the absence of a clear correlation between these properties and the actual application, it is recommended that the rubber be tested for tensile strength, modulus stress, elongation at break and hardness.
Method A: Multi-unit or cabinet-type hot air aging box with low air flow rate, with 3 to 10 air changes per hour;
Method B: Use a cabinet-type hot air aging box with fan forced ventilation, and change the air 3 to 10 times per hour.
