Test Background
Temperature shock usually has a more serious impact on parts close to the outer surface of the equipment. The farther away from the outer surface (of course, related to the characteristics of the relevant materials), the slower the temperature change and the less obvious the impact. Shipping boxes, packaging, etc. also reduce the effects of temperature shock on enclosed equipment. Drastic temperature changes can temporarily or permanently affect the operation of your equipment.
Problems that may occur when equipment is exposed to temperature shock environments include: shattering of glass containers and optical instruments, deformation or cracking of parts, leakage of sealed chambers, failure of chemical reagent protection, electronic or mechanical failures caused by rapid condensation of water or frost, etc. The military equipment temperature shock test can measure the temperature shock environmental adaptability of various military equipment and determine whether physical damage or performance degradation occurs when the equipment is subjected to rapid changes in ambient atmospheric temperature (temperature shock).

Scope of tests
It is suitable for equipment used in places where the air temperature may change rapidly. It evaluates the impact of sudden temperature changes on the outer surface of the equipment, the parts installed on the outer surface, or the internal parts installed close to the outer surface. A typical situation is as follows:
a) Equipment converts between hot areas and low temperature environments;
b) Through high-performance vehicles, rise from high temperature environment on the ground to high altitude (only from hot to cold);
c) When testing with only external materials (packaging or equipment surface materials), airdrop from the protective shell of the aircraft that is hot at high altitude and low temperature.
Test method
1. Constant temperature impact test
The constant temperature shock test uses a constant temperature for each extreme shock condition. Because in many cases the temperature shock itself is much more important than other temperature effects, the test can be performed with two constant temperatures. Constant temperature shock procedures are used especially when more severe shocks are desired (e.g. to evaluate safety or initial design) and when extreme temperatures are to be used.
2. Cyclic temperature shock test
If careful simulation of a real environment is required, cyclic temperature shock testing should be used because high temperatures occur with corresponding daily cycles. Determine the functions (work requirements) that the equipment should achieve based on relevant documents, and determine the environment that will cause temperature shock.
