ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential, ozone depletion potential) represents global warming potential and is a value that describes the ability of a substance to destroy stratospheric ozone. ODP represents the ratio of the ability of chlorofluorocarbons in the atmosphere to destroy the ozone layer to the ability of R11 to destroy the ozone layer. The ODP of R11 is 1.0. The smaller the ODP value, the better the environmental characteristics of the refrigerant. According to current levels, refrigerants with an ODP value less than or equal to 0.05 are considered acceptable.

Using CFC-11 as the benchmark comparator, its ODP value is set to 1. The ODP value of other substances is expressed by the fractional value whose ozone depletion capacity is greater or smaller than that of CFC-11.
