Capacitor Quality Identification

Capacitor Quality Identification-Electronics & Electrical Appliances-CAS Testing Technical Services (Hong Kong) Company Limited

Appraisal Background

Some capacitor manufacturers take advantage of low prices to obtain large orders, but in order to protect their own interests, these manufacturers use low-quality raw materials to produce power capacitors. The quality of the capacitors produced in this way is much worse than that of ordinary capacitors.
Due to the poor quality of power capacitors, frequent failures occur during operation. For example, poor capacitor sealing ability leads to capacitor oil leakage, poor insulation performance leads to capacitor discharge breakdown, poor shell quality leads to capacitor bulging, poor terminal quality leads to capacitor terminals being burned, etc.
Zhongke Testing provides electronic and electrical quality appraisal services. It can conduct appraisal work on whether there are quality problems related to capacitors, issue professional and reliable inspection reports, and assist courts and enterprises in resolving product quality disputes.

Basis for appraisal

JB/T 8168-1999 Pulse capacitors and DC capacitors
JB/T 7114.1-2013 Power capacitor product model compilation method Part 1: Capacitor unit, collective capacitor and box capacitor
GB/T 9090-1988 Standard capacitor
SJ 20394-1993 Capacitor packaging specifications
GB/T 17702-2021 Power electronic capacitors
GB/T 20994-2007 Parallel capacitors and AC filter capacitors for high-voltage DC transmission systems
SJ 20030-1992 General specifications for vacuum capacitors
JB/T 1811-2011 Compressed gas standard capacitor

Authentication case

A home appliance company purchased a batch of capacitors as components for refrigerators. However, during use, the capacitance capacity attenuated, resulting in serious returns of the batch of refrigerators, and the home appliance company suffered economic losses. The home appliance company sued the capacitor supply company, demanding compensation for its economic losses. Therefore, the court entrusted our company to identify whether the batch of capacitors complied with relevant standards. The
expert team conducted a quality analysis on this batch of capacitors in accordance with national standards. After testing, they came to the following conclusion: During normal use, the insulation resistance between the capacitor electrodes decreases, resulting in local dielectric breakdown of the internal metallized film. The breakdown of this metallized film is the main reason for the decrease in capacitor capacity.
