Test Background
Wood fibers have strong longitudinal connections, so the tensile strength along the grain is high. The compressive strength of wood along the grain is smaller than the tensile strength along the grain. The wood along-grain compressive strength test can determine the along-grain compressive strength of a small sample of wood without defects.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability of reliability testing of various types of wood, and provides professional along-grain compressive strength testing services for wood and wood-based products.
Scope of tests
Wood can be divided into:
according to how it is used
1) Wood restructured materials such as plywood, particleboard, fiberboard, laminated veneer lumber, laminated lumber, restructured wood, oriented strand board, restructured decorative veneer, etc.
2) Wood-based composite materials such as gypsum particleboard, cement particleboard, wood/plastic composite materials, wood/metal composite materials, wood conductive materials and wood ceramics.
Test method
Apply pressure along the grain direction of the wood at a uniform speed until failure to determine the along-grain compressive strength of the wood.
1) At the center of the sample length, measure the width and thickness to the nearest 0. 1 mm.
2) Place the sample at the center of the spherical movable support of the testing machine, load at a uniform speed, and destroy the sample within 1.5 min to 2.0 min, that is, the pointer of the testing machine retreats significantly or the load displayed on the digital display decreases significantly. The failure load is recorded, and the load is allowed to be measured with an accuracy of 100 N.
3) After the sample is destroyed, measure the moisture content of the entire sample in accordance with GB/T 1931-2009.
Test standard:
GB/T 1935-2009 Test method for wood compressive strength along the grain
