Flat tensile strength test of sandwich structure

Flat tensile strength test of sandwich structure-Physical Performance Testing-

Test Background

Structural sandwich is a composite structure of plate and shell structure. Its two surfaces are made of very thin plates, with a lighter sandwich layer sandwiched in the middle. The former is called the dashboard and requires high strength; the latter is called the sandwich and requires light weight. General structural interlayers are used for wings, tails, fuselages, rocket bodies, arrowheads, speed brakes, engine nacelles, sound insulation devices, fire partitions, etc.
The flat tensile strength test of sandwich structural materials can determine the flat tensile strength of sandwich structures.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability of reliability testing of various sandwich structures and provides professional flat tensile strength testing services for sandwich structures.

Scope of tests

sandwich structure dashboard include aluminum alloy, stainless steel, titanium alloy and various composite materials.
Sandwich materials include lightweight wood, foam plastic, etc. Metal materials or composite materials can also be used to make corrugated board sandwich or honeycomb sandwich (see honeycomb structure).

Test method

A tensile load is applied in the vertical direction of the sandwich structure panel through a tensile clamp with an automatic centering function. Tensile failure of the core material occurs, or tensile failure of the bond between the panel and the core material, or delamination failure of the panel occurs.

Test standard:

GB/T 1452-2018 Test method for flat tensile strength of sandwich structures
GB/T 1446 General principles for performance test methods of fiber reinforced plastics
GB/T 3961 Fiber reinforced plastic terminology
