Vulcanized rubber wear test

The wear resistance performance of rubber is the ability of vulcanized rubber to resist material loss due to surface damage under the action of friction. It is a mechanical property closely related to the service life of rubber products. The vulcanized rubber wear resistance test can be used to determine the wear resistance of vulcanized rubber using an Akron abrasion testing machine.

In terms of its vulcanization method, vulcanized rubber can be roughly divided into:
1) Flat vulcanizing machine vulcanization: flat tapes such as conveyor belts and transmission belts;
2) Vulcanizing tank vulcanization: rubber hoses, rubber rollers, rubber shoes, air bags, rubber strips, tapes, roller coatings, pipe linings, cables, etc.;
3) Continuous vulcanization: sealing strips, pure rubber hoses, wires and cables, etc.

This test is to rub the sample against the grinding wheel at a certain tilt angle and under a certain load, and measure the wear volume or wear index of the sample over a certain mileage.
1) Fix the glued sample wheel on the rubber wheel shaft, start the motor, and make the sample rotate clockwise.
2) Pre-grind the sample for 15 to 20 minutes and then remove it. Brush off the rubber chips and weigh it to the nearest 0.001 g.
3) Use pre-ground samples for testing. After the sample travels 1.61 km, turn off the motor, remove the sample, brush off the glue chips, and weigh it within 1 hour with an accuracy of 0.001 g.
4) Determine the density of the sample as specified.
