Test Background
The metal wire winding test can measure the ability of metal wires with diameters or characteristic dimensions of 0.1 mm to 10 mm to withstand plastic deformation during the winding test, and can also measure the adhesion properties of the coating on the surface of coated metal wires.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capabilities of environmental testing and reliability performance testing of various metal materials, and provides professional winding testing services for metal wires.
Scope of tests
Metal wire is generally made of ordinary carbon steel and high-quality carbon steel.
According to the steel distribution catalog and different uses, wire rods include ordinary low carbon steel hot-rolled circular wire rods, high-quality carbon steel wire rods, carbon welding wire rods, quenched and tempered threaded wire rods, wire rods for steel wire ropes, wire rods for piano wires, and stainless steel wire rods.
Test method
1. The winding test is to wind the wire sample tightly on a mandrel with a specified diameter at a certain rotation speed to the specified number of spiral turns, or the sample will break. Special procedures (prescribed sequences) for winding, unwinding, or re-winding may also be included.
2. Observation of winding test results should be carried out in accordance with relevant product standards. If there are no specific provisions, it is advisable to inspect the sample surface without a magnifying tool. Wires with a diameter or characteristic size less than 0.5 mm should be inspected at approximately 10 times magnification. If there are no visible cracks, the sample is deemed to be qualified.
3. Coating adhesion performance test inspection includes whether the coating is cracked, peeled off or layered to the extent that it can be wiped off with bare fingers. If there is no cracking, peeling or delamination to the extent that it can be wiped off with bare fingers, the sample is deemed to be qualified.
4. If the sample breaks during the test, the test will be terminated and the sample will be deemed unqualified.
