Test Background

Adhesive tape puncture resistance test can determine the ability of the adhesive tape to resist being punctured by sharp objects. Zhongke Testing and Reliability Experiment Center has the capabilities of environmental testing and reliability performance testing of various adhesive tapes, and provides professional puncture resistance testing services for adhesive tapes.

Scope of tests

According to the base material: it can be divided into BOPP tape, cloth tape, kraft paper tape, masking tape, fiber tape, PVC tape, PE foam tape, etc.
According to the scope of application: it can be divided into warning tape, carpet tape, electrical tape, protective film paper tape, stretch film tape, sealing tape, module tape, etc.
According to market penetration rate: it can be divided into ordinary tape and special tape.
According to the application environment temperature: it can be divided into low temperature tape, normal temperature tape and high temperature tape.

Test method

In the direction perpendicular to the adhesive tape sample, the thorn cone pierces the adhesive tape sample at a certain rate, and the maximum force required in this process is measured. If necessary, the relationship between the load and the displacement of the puncture cone during the puncture process of the adhesive tape sample can be recorded.
1. Turn on the constant speed tensile testing machine and set the piercing rate to 50 mm/min. If the piercing rate is set to other values, it should be noted in the test report. Before each test, reset the force value to zero and start the piercing device to start the test. The maximum force generated during the test is the puncture force.
2. After the test is completed, the cover plate in the sample clamping device should be removed to observe whether the sample is punctured and whether horizontal slippage occurs. If the specimen slips in the horizontal direction, it should be judged as invalid data.
3. If the sample slips horizontally during the measurement process, a layer of annular discs can be added to the sample placement platform of the sample clamping device to increase the horizontal friction of the sample clamping device during the sample puncture process and avoid horizontal slippage of the sample.
4. The ring-shaped disc is made of double-sided tape or gasket, with an outer diameter of (28±2) mm and an inner diameter of (10.0±0.5) mm.
