A data center of the applicant signed a "Magnetic Levitation Chiller Procurement Contract" with a refrigeration equipment company of the respondent, agreeing to purchase 10 units of MCW-500 equipment. After being put into production, the chiller unit frequently experienced evaporator leaks and the COP was only 5.5 (contract requirement ≥7.0), causing server downtime. The data center believed that the equipment had a design defect and demanded compensation for losses.

Identification analysis results:

The quality analysis expert group discussed and comprehensively analyzed the relevant information of the "chiller unit", contract technical agreement, on-site inspection case materials and other data, and made the following quality analysis opinions:

The evaporator copper tube of the chiller unit involved in the case is made of T2 material (contract requirements) TP2), insufficient corrosion resistance, Cl⁻ corrosion leads to perforation; the acid value of the refrigeration oil reaches 0.08 mgKOH/g (standard ≤ 0.03), which accelerates compressor wear; there are pores in the copper pipe welding (X-ray inspection shows a defect rate of 3%), and the leakage reaches 0.5kg/month; the antifreeze protection threshold is set to 0℃ (standard ≥2℃), causing the evaporator to freeze and crack.

The refrigeration equipment company failed to provide TP2 copper pipes and qualified refrigeration oil according to the contract, and the control system parameter settings were incorrect, which was the main reason for the equipment problems.
